‘Active Listening’ enhances 2020 as the year of Perfect Vision.

Then TAMU President Robert GATES, initiated “VISION 2020”, the strategic plan to grow and develop the influence and impact of Texas A&M University. As we enter the third decade of the 21 st Century and with it the culmination of VISION 2020 it is time to reflect on the challenges that lie ahead. President Gates contended that Texas A&M University did not exist solely for its own advancement, but rather for that of society, the nation, and all human kind.

Accordingly the 5th and final AGGIE Leadership in Community Development conference is to be held on Friday 7 February, 2020 from 9.00am to 12 noon in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center, George H.W. BUSH Presidential Library, Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.—it is  FREE to All.

It is a conference centered on “active listening” where we will hear from nine (9) AGGIE alums deliberately drawn from across the managerial spectrum, generations, and genders on what remains if we are to achieve perfect vision.

We extend a very warm invitation to all students, staff, faculty, and alumni, former students and friends to attend and to bring your colleagues. Faculty please include in your syllabi as the venue can accommodate all your students and this is an opportunity that is unlikely to ever again be repeated.

Nine (9) AGGIES have been invited and have enthusiastically accepted to speak.

Session One: THE STATESMEN
Tom OWENS ‘73
Brad FREELS ‘81
Fred CALDWELL ‘82

Session Two: THE CURRENT LEADERS
Jonathan BRINSDEN ‘91

Session Three: THE EMERGING LEADERS
Yi XUE ‘14

Each of these three sessions will be of one-hour duration, with 10 minutes of Q&A at its conclusion. The shortness of each personal reflection and response is designed to focus on what each of the three speakers in each session consider of most importance and to maximize the impact and resonance of each speaker’s unique perspective.

In their 15 minute address to the conference each alum will share with the AGGIE students, staff, faculty, alumni, former students, friends and colleagues the lessons they have on what the future can hold for Texas A&M University, the built, natural, and virtual environment, and the world. Big subject—short amount of time—but nine AGGIE alums to whom we should actively listen.

Please join us for the 5th AGGIE Leadership in Community Development conference --
